Prince Rupert to Prince George, B.C.
Distance: 446 miles / 718 km
Time: 8 hours
I passed on taking the float plane to Haida on account of weather… and an antsy need to move east and south. I backtracked about 150 miles (242 km) up the Yellowhead Highway to Kitwanga, and then continued east from there towards Prince George for about 300 miles (486 km)… a long day.
Where the Kitsumkalum River enters the Skeena River near Fisherman’s Memorial Park is a CN bridge over the Kitsumkalm River.

Highway 16 takes me briefly back north of the southern tip of Alaska here. I realize this little jaunt north around Brian Boru Mountain marks the furthest north I will be for many years (Boru being an Irish king and the father of Clan McGrath, killed by the Viking Brodir of Man around 1014 A.D.)

D’oh! Fort Fraser, B.C.
At the top left edge of the photo is the approximate location where the golden spike marking the completion of the Pacific Grand Trunk Railway was driven (now, Canadian National Railway). In the foreground, discarded spikes. The marker is currently missing from the turnout east of Fort Fraser on Highway 16.
